Finduilas and Gwindor

Daughter from Finarfin's house, don't let any arguments be between us, for even if Morgoth ruined my life, I still love you. Go where love leads you, but be careful! It is not appropriate for the older children of Ilúvatar to marry the younger, and it is also not wise, for they are short-lived and soon go there, leaving us widowed as long as the world lasts ...
GWINDOR TO FINDUILAS; THE SILMARILLION

Art by me

The Silmarillion reports: 'Then Finduils' heart turned from Gwindor and against her will her love fell to Túrin; But Turin did not notice what had happened. And Finduilas's heart was torn and she grew weak and quiet and troubled. ' For her part, Finduilas knew that her love for Túrin would remain unfulfilled and said to Gwindor: "Túrin, Húrin's son, does not love me and will not love me."

Túrin actually did not return her love, but was urged by Gwindor, when he was dying, to leave him alone in death and to rush to Nargothrond to save Finduilas. By the time Turin came to Nargothrond, the city's terrible end was almost over. Glaurung, who was already raging in the city, prevented Túrin from bringing Finduilas to safety.

The orcs captured Finduilas and Túrin, who had been banished by Glaurung, forgot his oath and went to Dor-lómin to find his family. Finduilas was then killed by the orcs at the Teiglin footbridges (496th). The Haladin of Brethil found them there and buried them in Haudh-en-Elleth.
